On Saturday 22 June 2019, one of the Skanska site engineers began his daily site walk to ensure everything was in order, when he discovered a distressed dog that had become enclosed on site at the Mindenhurst Development and couldn’t find her way out.
Due to the dogs agitated state, the site engineer was unable to coax or catch her but did provide food and water and took a short video clip of her. This video was put out to the public with the help of local councillor Paul Deach. Shortly after, a very relieved owner came across the social media post and quickly came to site to be reunited with his dog, Honey, and was thankful to the team for their care and effort. The excited hound had made her escape from over 2km away but was perfectly healthy, although somewhat exhausted, and very pleased to see her owner again.
Following on from this event, Skanska team members will be doing regular checks across site specifically to search for and assist any animals that are trapped on site.
Thank you to everyone in the area and beyond that was involved in reuniting man and dog, what a great community!
